I’ve written many times about the patriotism that Dominican teachers convey to their students. Pride in La Patria takes a special place in curriculum from pre-kindergarten to senior year. Notable dates get celebrated. It’s an aspect of Dominican Episcopal education that I find particularly noteworthy.
This past Wednesday, January 26th, the birthday of Juan Pablo Duarte, considered the father of his country, was one of those special days for celebration. Many schools created activities in which children dressed as the legendary politician and welcomed classmates to school; others created displays honoring Duarte’s contributions; marching bands played.
