Winding down the academic year

Several end-of-year activities to report to my faithful readers. For one, I have made plane reservations and will return to La Republica Dominicana from May 21-28. I’m anticipating a “getting re-acquainted” trip, involving attendance at graduation ceremonies, meetings and school visitations. Expect lots of Blog posts while I’m based in Santo Domingo. It’s been roughly 27 months since my last visit. Can’t wait to get back.

Speaking of school visitations, the Junta de Educacion (School Board), featuring my colleagues Miguelina and Melvina, as well as a new addition to the Diocesan Mission Office, Nederland Paulino, continues the important work of traveling to colegios to assess how well they are meeting national curriculum guidelines and to offer suggestions for school improvement. Here are the results of two school visitations in the San Pedro de Macoris area.
